by Alan Alston, Sr.
205 Thoughts from the Heart of a Man is a collection of poetry for encouragement and guidance. The contents of this book are from the brokenness of a man who has accepted the truth. In our quest for peace, a person has to be sure there is hope. Suffering will come to us all, but we must endure to the end.
When you read these poems, remember I have opened my heart up to you. The truths written in this book are meant to uplift and edify the reader. Make no mistake of my motive. My sole purpose is to be transparent so others can see they’re not alone.
Remember, I have fallen several times — as we all do — but I will get back up so others may learn from my love. Love is the core of the book — that’s why I exist. Enjoy with hope and thanksgiving.
Love and blessings to you sincerely.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Alan Alston Sr. was born December 2, 1969, in Louisville, Kentucky, one of five children born to his father and mother. Alan grew up in the Beecher Terrace housing projects. There, in Louisville, he experienced a hard life struggling to find himself. At the tender age of seventeen, Alan was a father of three. At twenty-one, Alan began fathering his fourth child. As time passed and the children grew, so did Alan. A man’s responsibility is his children! So Alan worked to support them.
Struggling to stay focused, Alan received his G.E.D. while incarcerated. When released as an adult, he also graduated from Butler Traditional High School.
Things were pretty rough financially until Alan received employment at Ford Motor Co., Louisville Assembly Plant, where he worked for twelve years. Ambitious and hopeful, Alan began writing poetry that was encouraged by his coworkers. Now Alan is married and has a stepdaughter. He also owns Alston Properties LLC. with his wife of five years. He is currently a student at Jefferson Technical College, studying HVAC, heating and air conditioning.
Upon completion of his new venture, Alan will continue on in his own business with his new skilled trade.
