by EL Rocky Rochester
In “East Texas Hounds,” JC Barrett (Bronx) has married the sister of JJ Nightingale (Le, twin sister), and is on the trail of jayhawkers and bushwhackers, determined to bring them in dead or alive. After a fashion, he and his wife settle down, raise kids, and run a large cattle spread. After years of hunting down outlaws and riffraff, it can be said that he made a darn good Texas Ranger.
In “China Saucer,” Jerry Brown is off on another case of unraveling the killers of people involved in a racket of big money, politics, prostitution, dope, and just plain murder. The hard case detective is at his best in solving all his cases. A sheriff’s detective, Joe Hall, happens to walk by and sees an attack on a woman, but he is too far away to catch the mugger. Detective Hall rushes to the woman’s side to assist her, but it is too late. With her last breath of life, she whispers, “MA-MA MOON.”
