They have three sons, Robert, Steven, and Jimmy, who are all grown and have families of their own. Cathy now enjoys spending time with her grandson, Trevor. She gets a great deal of pleasure watching him grow up and seeing how he deals with life. The idea for The Adventures of Elvis the Groundhog came from a real groundhog. There he would be every evening, just laying on a fence post looking across the field, like he was wondering what was out there. So, Cathy decided that someday she would write a story about him.
