A Book of Poetry and Prose

This manuscript contains poetry about love and love letters from fictional lovers, prose about life, and writings depicting special occasions. It offers an opportunity for one to take a good look at oneself and a chance to dance with GOD. This manuscript was written to uplift, give courage and hope, to instill a strong faith in GOD, and to have faith and belief in others, as well as respect for others and yourself. To have respect and appreciation for those who have fought and died for our freedom to have a chance to choose our way of life and to worship in peace is the focus of this book.

After graduating from high school, I left my hometown in Monroe, Louisiana, and went to Baltimore, Maryland, to stay with my aunt. I was hired at the John Hopkins Hospital as a custodian doing janitorial work. I later transferred to become a worker in the general operating room. I eventually went to Maryland State University to become certified as a surgical technician. I also took a few weeks of seminar classes at Coppin State College in Towson, Maryland. After acquiring the position of surgical technician, I obtained a fulltime job.

After one Saturday night at work, I was getting dressed for church when all of a sudden, I went blind. The next thing I remember was that I was in a very unfamiliar place. I saw lots of people and their heads were glowing like lights. There was a person in front of me with his arms outstretched to me. I could not move. Then I heard a voice say, "It is not your time yet." I woke up in the recovery room of the hospital where I had undergone surgery for a brain aneurysm. Upon my discharge from the hospital, the doctor told me that I died on the operating table for around three hours. After the doctor told me that, I knew where I had been.
