A Friendly Deception

This story is about Sean, a banker in the city of London, and his desire to have a daughter who could call him "mon papa cheri." When all natural efforts fail, he and his wife, Gina, take their close friend Rohit's advice and visit India, where in a renowned temple, Pundit runs a business behind a facade of devtas, dasees, and bhagats.

God rewards them with a beautiful daughter, Sophie, but who fathered her? Is it Pundit, Harry the driver, or one of the many devtas in the temple? Other characters include Sherou, an Anglo Indian who makes his living by whatever it takes; sharp, razor-brain secretary Judy, who believes bankers can afford two women; and an extremely ambitious Mariena, who has her eyes set on 10 Downing Street….

Kamal M. Malak, a British citizen born in Delhi, is a chartered accountant living in north London. He worked for KPMG, Rank Xerox Group, Texas Instruments Inc., and other international companies. For many years, he managed his own accounting practice. Currently, he works for a hedge fund. This story is a gist of his background and his working life experiences in different parts of the world.

Kamal is also a lyricist and released a few of his songs through his company, Venus Music & Records Ltd. His other published work is Mr. & Mrs. Bohiem, a story about a chartered accountant in London.
