Like a gathering of living candles, the affirmations of this book grew from the soil of oppression against the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender community. They represent our best hope for overcoming the ignorance, fear, and hatred that have forced us to crouch in the shadows as second-class citizens.
This gathering of light reflects the best of our spirit. As such, it is my hope that the beauty of our spirit will be celebrated and shared with others. May the light of these words warm your soul, drive away frightening shadows, and provide an inward compass for your journey.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
One of my favorite memories as a child came from growing up on our family ranch in Loughman, Florida. In the twilight, deer would freely roam through the pasture behind our home. Breaking bread with nature each day inspired me to explore my Native American roots.
Today, I am in the process of completing a master’s degree in mental health counseling with certification in psychotraumatology. In the future, I want to do volunteer work with sexual minority youth and continue working on a book that delves into the relationship between our mythic imagination and modern GLBT life.
