by S.P. Sarvis
In this fictionalized account, Shelley, a young African American, is a single parent, raised on faith. She tries, like all mothers, to obtain the best life she can for herself and her son. But even the most carefully planned life is unpredictable, with many twists and turns, and sometimes they overwhelm us.
Shelley’s faith is tested in the same ways many of us are tested, by religion, romance, sex, race relations, drugs, alcohol, dysfunctional family structure, and of course, tragedy.
S.P. Sarvis’s story is simple, but the message is timeless and crystal-clear: Get a grip—life ain’t easy!
