Hummingbird

Faced with the sudden death of his beloved great-grandmother, Mississippi poet-painter Ahrend Walters was inspired to select a few poems he felt would bring joy to his great-grandmother's heart. Hummingbird, a collection of over thirty poems with a philosophical slant, introduces a new direction in the poet's work. Known primarily for his chaotic, challenging, mysterious poems and artwork, Walters presents us with this compelling collection, much easier to understand and appreciate.

Walters is a twenty-six-year-old inspired writer. His poetry relates to nature and God, but most of all life and what he experiences through his life journey. Walters received the MGCCC Creative Writing Award in 2010, placed first with the college in categories of prose poetry and haiku, and was awarded on a state level by the MCCCWA, for his free-verse work in 2011. Walters delights in the fact that all things are poetry, and strives daily for the creative mission for which he has been called-a mission he says will not be fully understood until after his death. Walters lives in rural, Mississippi, in a small building he dubbed, "The Poet Shack."
