The Journey of Hope
by Dr. Niki Karavasilis
The Journey of Hope is a story of one woman, Agape, who descends into the abyss of depression upon receiving the sad news that her husband, Marine John Mitchel, had been killed in Afghanistan. Agape is unable to face reality that her husband will be coming home in a casket when the two of them had built dreams about their future and their unborn baby.
One day, Agape goes through her husband's trunk from Afghanistan and discovers his wish-to save a little girl's life in Afghanistan, and to bring her to the United States.
This compels her to travel to Kabul, Afghanistan, to search for this little girl, Ashmir.
The reader follows Agape to Kabul where she visits prisons, orphanages, and witnesses the suffering of the families. What she observes is inconceivable. The exposure to the hardships of thirty years of war in Afghanistan becomes vivid before the eyes of the reader.
The Journey of Hope is a story of the unforeseen ways on which our choices affect our lives, and the relentless power of hope and love in all its many forms.
