by E.S. Cenote
As the title suggests, this book was written by a non-scholar to present an alternative worldview lifestyle he feels is not only desirable but also essential if humanity is to carry on in a progressive manner. It opens with a definition of what the author feels egalitarianism includes and then goes on to describe a number of characteristics he is convinced will come to develop and display in order to be successful globally. This is then followed by a short section on why the author feels egalitarianism in inevitable and then goes into a critique of current systems, which include: political, economic, socio-psychological, religious, and philosophical considerations.
While none of these are understandably all inclusive, the author feels the presented material is hopefully adequate to the book’s objective. As the book was first written in 1984, and on the advice of a friend who felt some personal anecdote additions would make it “lighter” and more readable, these have been added to update some of the material and provide some further insights as to how and why the author reached many of the book’s opinions and conclusions. He has no doubt at least some of these will upset a number of people, as they run counter to what we’ve been taught to accept and believe as appropriate or educational dogma, but it should also serve to stimulate lively discussion and as a reassessment of many things we currently hold dear that are, in fact, actually destroying us.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
The author was born and raised on the Canadian prairies back in the forties and fifties, when the winters were very cold. After obtaining sufficient education, he was thrust into the working world as a high school teacher and labored at this until the “establishment” types saw fit to discard him. He then obtained various employments, which included working in a sawmill, commercial fishing, janitorial work, employment as an S.P.C.A. Animal Control officer, working as a lighthouse keeper, and finally working as a federal government primary products (meat) inspector.
In 1992 he decided a rest was in order and moved himself to the tiny country of Belize, which developed into a twelve-year “coffee break.” While there he continued working on his long-term love affair with fiction writing and became familiar with living conditions in a third-world tropical setting. Changing circumstances obliged a move back to Canada in 2004, where he is currently employed as a security guard and is greatly looking forward to the time when he can devote all of his time exclusively to his writings. He is unmarried and now living in British Columbia, Canada, with his dog, Toby.
