Landing from Cloud 9

For many years, from songs, soap operas, and straight from lips, my ears have heard spicy and touching words of love being expressed by couples before marriage. This is a language the persons speaking can understand but many cannot. Heartfelt citations were expressed willfully, frequently, and readily, and it seemed like the couples could not find enough spicy words to speak. “I love you” just wasn’t enough.
“You are the apple of my eye!” “I will lay down my life for you!” “You are a bouquet of flowers to me!” “There is no one like you!” “You are the sunshine of my life!” Yes, these are just a few samples of love language. Volumes of books and a complete literary display of what lovable couples have expressed to themselves at times as far back as Shakespeare would not be enough.
Now, it will probably only take a thin paperback book to hold expressions of love couples make to each other after marriage. One of the probable reasons spicy words of love are less expressed or they fade away is that the couples become too satisfied with each other, being together often and starting to focus their eyes more on responsibilities, difficult times, incidents, measuring on one another becoming afraid of each other, and many more reasons.
There are years after marriage when there are couples who will have compassion for each other, but it’s just that they prefer to show it more than tell. There are couples married for a long time who think spicy love words is baby language. Rather than saying, “Darling, you are the apple of my eye!” they prefer to compliment with “You are sure a good cook!” And so there are more partners at home than love birds on cloud 9.
