by Paul W. Carlos
In the biblical parable of the talents, we’re told of three men who were given five, three, and one talent respectively. They’d been instructed to go and do “something” with them. As I’m sure you remember, the first two ran out and added to the talents they were given. But the other poor guy who received only one talent put it under a bushel basket or in a pickle jar or something just so he wouldn’t lose it. When the master returned, the first two guys were rewarded for handling their business. The third guy had a rough day at the office.
To make a long story short, I’m the guy with the one talent.
I believe “The Master” is coming back to collect his talents and suddenly, I’m afraid to get busted with only this one underdeveloped talent. So…I write. If I can write something that will make “The Master” laugh, cry, or even nod His head and say, “Cool,” I stand a chance of not getting my butt scorched.
Life in a Day of a Poet is a reflective amalgamation of spiritual, social, and interpersonal situations, observations, and song lyrics gathered over the past thirty-plus years.
