My best friend Skippy shared my life for seventeen wonderful years. When we were children, my brother Harvey crawled through cobwebs on his knees into a dark cellar to save the lives of nine puppies and their mother. We placed them on my bed alongside their mother and later gave all but one to caring homes. Harvey named our puppy Skippy.
Soon our beautiful collie shepherd Skippy grew into a wonderful friend, enriching our lives with his protection, loyalty, and devotion. I'll always be grateful to my brother Harvey for saving Skippy from that cold, dark cellar.
About the AuthorAuthor and composer Ruth Pallock knew at age five what she wanted her life's work to be after playing the harmonica on radio station KGER in California. She later started her career by composing songs, writing stories, and writing musical dramas for children.
While traveling the country with her trio, she fell in love with the beauty America offered. Every day brought a new treasure in stories by watching how animals lived and cared for one another in the deserts and forests. Ruth wrote, performed, and recorded 365 children's radio programs for station KCMJ in Palm Springs, California, and now resides in Arizona.
