A Rainbow Collection of Poetry

Karen Lee Jones’s book entitled A Rainbow Collection of Poetry consists of collected poems she has written over the years through inspiration and produced by her creativity. She attended the University of Pittsburgh’s Kuntu Writer’s Workshop in 1979 and became interested in writing poetry and short stories.

In the poem “The Spirit, the Dragon and Me,” a character defeats his dragon through the Scriptures. And in the book, many of the other characters use prayer to achieve a positive outcome in their situations.

Karen received an award for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry in 2003 and 2006. Currently, Karen Lee Jones is a community producer at PCTV-Channel 21 and produces an award-winning children’s television show called Imagination Way, which is geared toward literacy. Also, she recently published a children’s book entitled Stories from the Television Show Imagination Way in 2006.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Karen Lee Jones began writing poetry in 1977. The University of Pittsburgh’s Kuntu Writer’s Workshop gave her the incentive to submit numerous selections of poetry and short stories for publication in international and local anthologies. Karen was also published in the Crossing Limits Anthology in Pittsburgh, PA. She also won awards in 2003 and 2006 for achievements in poetry and wrote Black romance short stories for some years.

Currently, Karen is a community producer at PCTV-Channel 21 and has been producing an award-winning television storytelling show called Imagination Way. Imagination Way has been appearing on this station for approximately eleven years. This is a children’s educational program geared toward promoting literacy for young children and their parents. A children’s book entitled Stories from the Television Show Imagination Way was published by Karen for those who have not already seen stories from the show. Imagination Way has appeared in two articles by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which features the author and what inspired her to write children’s stories. Karen lives in Pittsburgh with her husband, children, and grandchild in the East End section of the city.
