by Susan Kramer-Mills and Hartmut Kramer-Mills
This is a collection of sermons given at the First Reformed Church in New Brunswick, New Jersey, which was organized in 1717 as a member of the mainline Protestant denomination, the Reformed Church in America. Parishioners have been worshipping in its present sanctuary since 1812. The city installed a clock in the church tower, which has been keeping time for this diverse community since 1830. Thus, it is widely known as the “Town Clock Church.”
Today, the congregation reaches out to the community in a variety of ways: through service to the needy, by offering cultural activities and programs, opening its doors for shared space to a number of organizations, and reaching out to families and individuals who have special needs. By upholding its Christian Witness, the First Reformed Church hopes to continue to express the love of God as a welcoming community into the next century.
