by Karen Kristina Herft

“She looked at her village and all the bodies strewn everywhere and she realized that her village was no longer dry. It was wet, wet with blood.”

Misozi is a princess whose village is devastated first by a drought and then by slave drivers. Many were killed and she is soon thrust into a world that is cruel and intolerant to her because of who she is. She discovers through the betrayal of the man chosen to be her husband and then later by a man she thought her love could change that nothing is as it seems on the surface.

However, guided by the many stories of the “ancient one” and her own determination, she fights to survive so she can one day reunite her village and give those still alive what was so cruelly taken from them.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Born and raised in Africa, Karen Herft will always feel an amazing bond with the continent, something that those who have gone there will most certainly understand. She spent a very happy childhood there; life back then was quite an adventure. It was also in this amazing continent that she discovered her love of writing, the words created simply through the use of a little imagination and a pen and paper forever holding her fascination. Now living in Australia and working as a graphic designer, she vows she will never forget Africa or the inspiration that it has been to her.
