by Cynthia Kay Duryea

The Wall takes place in the not-so-distant future. Due to terrorist attacks and increased anxiety regarding economic and physical security, the United States has taken extreme measures and built a wall on the southern border of the country.

Carlos and Rosa are a poor Mexican family struggling to survive, and the strain is beginning to take its toll. The decisions they make will end up changing the course of their lives forever.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Cynthia Kay Duryea was raised in Fresno, California in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley. Growing up during the fifties and sixties, she observed the civil rights movement, and although Fresno, California is known for its agriculture, she knew nothing of the plight of a farm worker until the Cesear Chavez movement brought attention to it.

Cynthia enjoys reading, writing, theater, music, and volunteering through her church. She retired from a nursing career in 1991 to raise her three children. She presently resides in Spokane, Washington with her husband and her two teenage sons. Their grown daughter is away at college and visits the family whenever she can.
